Cats As Domestic Hunters

Since the days of Ancient Egypt,Cats have benefited from association with people, and have been welcome as a means of controlling vermin.Although cats have their independent natures it is quite clear they can survive on their own even though they associate with humans.

Cats are very domesticated hunters they hunt rodents for food,as well as birds such as pigeons,if prey becomes scarce, the cat may wonder farther afield to scaveng the atreet for left overs from human population. The appreciation of cats is engraved deep in the human soul and is of ancient origin, cats have had greay significance for humans over the centries.

They have been worshipped and feared, cherished as good omens and massacred for being agents of the devil. In the wild cats are well equipped for their task in seeking food, possessing keen senses, excellent co-ordination and the ability to kill its prey efficiently, this tend to be more active after the hours of darkness when rodents are most likely to emerge from hiding.

Cat can display great patience and concentration, waiting for lengthy periods of time near places such as rabbit burrows for their quarry to venture out.In fact, its the cat's basic predatory nature that first led to its relationship with man.The cat's prowess as a vermin catcher was put to use after man had turned from hunter to grower gathering of food which result to the domesticating of cats

By the year 3.000 BC in egypt, when agriculture was well established cats were employed to protect grain stores from the ravages of rodents. These feline guardians became so valuable to the egyptians that they regarded them as gods, the egyptians were impress by these supremely successful hunters with their strength, agility.cunning and lethal purpose.

The cat is in essence a perfect animal and can be trace back to each individual habitat, one of nature's designs that works supremely well,it looks good, functions precisely, owes nothing to anyone give much and demand little,

Yet,there are one aspect of feline behavior that many people find hard to understand,is their seeming cruelty.
